What are the best ways to take care of your vocal chords?
I am a singer and I am looking ways that I can best take care of my vocal chords. At this moment I know to avoid dairy, and honey drink and lemon tea when they get sick. any tips and tricks will be useful
You do not have to avoid dairy, only right before you sing - it can cause build up of phlegm. Do not scream, do not clear your throat (coughing is actually better for you than throat clearing, excessive coughing, but can damage your cords, too). Drink lots of water, so that when do you sing better hydrated and less likely to damage your cords. Avoid NSAIDs before you sing (ibuprofen, etc.) Also avoid Tylenol, Aleve, aspirin. They increase your ability to bleed and your dishes could be closer ahead in your vocal cords. If one of the vessels popped, it will severely damage your voice. Not exaggerate your voice. If that he felt tired, stop. Do not practice until your voice is so tired that you are "husky" - you'll be doing more damage than good. Getting more rest, exercise and good nutrition can only improve your overall health general and on the other hand you may not get sick as often (ie, fewer colds!) Also, you need to ensure that you are practicing good habits singing when you're singing, hope you have a teacher! If not, you should get one so they can guide you in the right direction. Many people who harm their voice do by excessive or incorrect technique (many pop stars, jazz singers - as much as I love Ella Fitzgerald, it should have a surgery to remove vocal nodes which are like callouses on your cords). also, no smoking!
