Fender Starcaster Acoustic
Acoustic Guitar Question?
I have a Fender Starcaster Acoustic Guitar and it's very hard for me to play it. I am a beginner, so I don't know if this has to do with it. The problem is that I have to press the strings very hard because I feel like the fret and the string are way too separated.
Does this happen to all beginners?
Are guitars suppose to be this way?
Please help me!
The distance between the strings and the fretboard is called "action" and it sounds like yours is too high for you. Some guitars naturally have higher action than others, but there's a good chance someone at a local guitar store can lower it for you for a few bucks. It's also possible the neck to the guitar isn't completely straight, which affects action. I'd recommend taking it to a guitar store that does repairs and showing it to the luthier (guitar doctor). He'll be able to make adjustments that might make it easier to play. It still won't be easy, but the longer you play, the more stamina and finger strength you'll develop. Good luck!
