Falling sales in the music industry has been given a boost thanks to live bands play at music festivals and other events.
According to recent figures, earnings downward during the past five years may be returned, after a string The summer festivals such as Glastonbury.
Live bands in all genres of music including soul groups have helped the overall UK sales increased 4.7% to £ 3.9bn.
And according to figures released by Adding Up Music Industry for the UK 2009 report, revenues at festivals such as Leeds, Reading and Glastonbury course have continued to grow from year to year and is up 9.4% in £ 1.54bn.
Although these figures are encouraging, there is also evidence to suggest that smaller venues like bars and music clubs continue to struggle, with up to 49 pubs closed every week according to the newspaper publican.
Will Page, chief economist at PRS for Music admits that although it is more difficult for groups to live to compete with digital downloads, there is still a market there.
Speaking to the Guardian he said: "The party is not live long, but it is starting to cool down.
"The good news is the innovative sector is now living in ways that are just as important as the digital sector. "
With the prospect of more cuts in the Government Department of Culture, Media and Sport over the next year, Mr. Page is quick to say that the music industry will have a major part to play in recovery because of the appeal its in drawing in tourists from abroad.
This opinion was also shared by Feargal Sharkey, chief executive for Music UK has pledged to fight any possible interruption in the sector.
Also speaking at the Guardian, he said: "We will do everything we can to ensure that these cuts have minimal impact on the beautiful thing is music. "
